Intended learning outcomes
A student completing this course unit should be able to:
- Describe the electronic behavior of basic electronic components such as resistors and capacitors.
- Analyze the behavior of circuits from the theoretical point of view using Kirchhoff’s laws and Ohm’s law.
- Apply basic measurement techniques using the voltmeter, the ammeter and the oscilloscope to study electrical circuits in direct and alternating current. Explain the limitations of the measuring equipment and errors due to non-ideal behavior.
- Plan and implement simple circuits with components that are responsive to the change of a physical parameter such as temperature, pressure or light intensity.
- Program a microcontroller to read and send sensor data to a PC.
